Michigan Ranked One of the Most Obese States in the Nation
In 2013, Michigan was ranked one of the most obese states in the nation, according to data by the United Health Foundation.
In fact, there are only 10 other states that rank higher in obesity and only 18 others that rank worse in overall health.
The foundation defines obesity as having a body mass index of 30.0 or higher, and links much of our poor health to lack of exercise.
It notes that 1.9 million Michiganders are deemed physically inactive, and confirms that smoking and binge drinking also play roles in our rather round physiques.
