City Slang: Kem nominated for four NAACP Image awards
If youâre anything like us, youâre currently thinking âwhat the fuck are NAACP Image awards?â
Honestly, who cares? Theyâre awards and our man Kem, the mega-selling Detroiter signed to the current incarnation of Motown, has been nominated for four.
According to a press release, âTwo-time Grammy AwardÂŽ-nominated Motown artist KEM leads all nominees for the 44th NAACP Image Awards with four (4) nominations for his songs: âGlorify The King,â âBe Mine For Christmas,â âYouâre On My Mindâ and for his âYouâre On My Mindâ video. âGlorify The King,â âBe Mine For Christmasâ and âYouâre On My Mindâ are nominated in the âOutstanding Songâ category and the âYouâre On My Mindâ video is nominated in the âOutstanding Music Videoâ category.â
âThe 44th NAACP Image Awards will air live at 8:00pm ET on February 1, 2013 on NBC. The NAACP Image Awards are recognized as the preeminent multi-cultural awards show. The event celebrates the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts (television, recording, literature, motion picture and writing & directing), as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.â
Kem says, âIâve watched the NAACP Image Awards show since I was young, and Iâve admired the organization for continuing to bring our cultural and social issues and leaders to the forefront. Itâs such a great honor and a blessing to be part of that.â
