ADULT.

I’m just as catatonic, distraught, queasy, unhinged… just as much as you… over the oncoming Presidential Election. Oh the InterNet-Duress…the stirred-up-outrage…the fright-froze-implications!

Relax…

Well… not that you could ever relax-to Adult.

Have you forgotten how stylishly scary and eerily invigorating the glitch-jittered shadow-scapes of post-techno freak-fests could be…at such a time like this? How long has it been since you listened to Detroit’s esteemed electronica duo Adult. ??

Ten years? It’s been more than ten years since the Resuscitation LP, their quintessential composition of buzzsaw synth-bass burns, electro-surged-incantations, chippety-chopped drum-machine churns and banshee-wailed post-apocalyptic-dancehall balladry.

Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller have been working on some new stuff lately and are re-releasing said-album as a means of adding to the awaited-reiginition of their signature decorously-doom-tinged techno-stylings. Ghostly International brings us Resucitation on vinyl -for the first time, actually, right around Thanksgiving. Info here.

Kuperus and Miller have been absent from the world of recorded music for nigh-on-four years (most recently via the Let’s Feel Bad Together EP). They’ve been busy, though (indeed, their dabblings in the art world go way beyond just the songs / shows of Adult.), including two years producing Three Grace(s) triptych, a 113-minute horror film trilogy that’s been to film festivals as far away as Mexico City.

But, as stated, new songs are on the way. The first “new” batch, though, are actually cover songs. Adult. takes on A Number of Names proto-techno-jam “Shari Vari” and the Screamers “122 Hours of Fear” on a Ghostly-given 7″ single. (Available Tuesday-11/6 – on vinyl / digital).

Resuscitation was, at its release back in 2001, already an adhoc anthology of sorts for the band, collecting a bunch of songs on CD that had only previously been available on hard-to-find singles and EPs. It holds up, still, a decade later… ready to introduce (or re-introduce) the duo’s dark dance-visions to new audiences. How many electro-eccentricities have flooded are buzz-blogs for fleeting, hour-glass-thin moments of intrigue, only to flit away into garage-band obscurity… And yet Adult. sustains… A band that influenced numerous new acts in the referenced realm of minimalist synth-based monster-movers – is coming back to us, here, aptly paying tribute to their own influences (of the early 80′s).

But anyway… Resuscutation comes with a 2nd LP (vinyl) of goodies that include:
