City Slang: Detroit Sound Conservancy to present tour of Detroit
On June 30, the newly formed Detroit Sound Conservancy will present the Detroit Sound Conservancy Music Tour, featuring a host of Detroitâ€™s most notable music storytellers as guides to the cityâ€™s musical landmarks.
The say, â€śThe tour will also partner with and be logged by theÂ DetroitWiki Project,Â a volunteer-driven effort to collect information about Detroitâ€™s historical places, current topics, meeting plans, biographies, and more. The DetroitWiki Project is a collaborative effort which was founded to develop new tools that promote transparency and civic engagement online.â€ť
â€śBeyond its cast of Detroit music griots and supporters on board, the â€śDSC Music Tourâ€ť will be unique in its production process involving the inclusive feedback and direction from featured Detroit music artists and aficionados to ensure Detroitâ€™s music-makers will benefit from the cityâ€™s cultural tourism.Â Â Also, because the DetroitWiki Project is anÂ open-source, those that have additional information about landmarks along the tour are encouraged to add/submit supplementary facts on the â€śDetroit Sound Conservancy Music Tourâ€ť page on the DetroitWiki site.â€ť
